A brand new production of the famous theatre play Les Misérables by Boublil & Schönberg is on tour, and naturally it will also visit London. Actor Gareth Gates stars in Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of the world’s longest running musical to celebrate 25 years on stage. If you are in London between September 14 and October 2, 2010 you can see the play at at London’s Barbican Theatre, which is where Les Misérables first premiered back in 1985.
This fascinating new production has new direction and fabulous new designs inspired by paintings of Victor Hugo, and is starring John Owen-Jones as ‘Jean Valjean’, Earl Carpenter as ‘Javert’ and Gareth Gates as ‘Marius’. Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, adapted by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, with additional material by James Fenton.
