Colosseum in Rome, Evening Openings Postponed

The evening opening of the Colosseum in Rome, which was due to start in June, has been postponed until a date yet to be decided.

The Colosseum will then also stay open in the evening from 9 p.m. to midnight on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The ticket office, bookshop, cafeteria and washrooms are being moved from the inside of the monument to the ground level, near the Arch of Constantine. Furthermore, by the end of August the hypogeums (underground levels) and the third level of the Amphitheatre will also be open to members of the public. Only 10-12 people will be allowed to visit at a time. Thanks to a especially-fitted lift, also disabled persons will have the opportunity to visit the hypogeums and the third level.
